Creating New Worlds is Unit 2 of The Universe Within, a hands-on winter camp from Mat Bevel Company hosted at Second Sky. Students explore art, engineering and imaginative world-building as they sculpt a planet, experiment with gears and motors, and create kinetic art.

Camp at a glance

• Dates: December 21–23 and December 28–30, 2026.
• Hours: 9 am – 2 pm. Arrival and check-in begin at 9 am; instruction begins at 9:15 a.m.
• Location: Second Sky, 4141 E. Irvington Rd., Building A, Tucson, AZ 85714
• Grades: Students in grades 4–8, from any school.
• Registration fee: $150 per student.
• Capacity: Limited to 25 students.

What students will explore

Students will sculpt a planet from clay, wire a motor, experiment with gears, and build a time-space machine that brings their imagined world to life.

Arrival and pickup

Please arrive between 9 and 9:15 a.m. so your student is ready when instruction begins. Second Sky opens at 9 a.m.

Students must be picked up by an authorized adult at 2 p.m. Please plan for an on-time pickup.

Students should dress for outdoor play and bring a sack lunch. Families interested in Second Sky’s lunch options can contact the team separately. Lunch arrangements are handled outside camp registration.

A parent or legal guardian must complete registration, provide emergency contact and authorized pickup information, and complete the existing Second Sky waiver for the student. The waiver must be verified before attendance.

Cancellations received at least seven days before camp begins receive a 50% refund. Cancellations received less than seven days before camp begins are nonrefundable.

Camp terms and guardian signature

Creating New Worlds takes place December 21–23 and December 28–30, 2026, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Arrival is 9–9:15 a.m.; instruction begins at 9:15 a.m. Authorized pickup is at 2 p.m. A late-pickup charge of $5 per minute applies after 2 p.m. Cancellations received at least seven days before camp begins receive a 50% refund; no refund is available within seven days. The existing Second Sky waiver must be completed and verified before attendance. This camp signature acknowledges these terms and does not replace the separate waiver.
